Our Hellenic side fell to a 2-1 away defeat to promotion hopefuls Shrivenham last Saturday - Here is the report on the game

Promotion chasing Shrivenham overcame a spirited Kidlington side by two goals to nil in Hellenic Division One West on Saturday. Two mistakes cost the greens dearly, firstly after 30 minutes an underhit back pass from Sam Elbro was intercepted by the Shrivenham’s Luke Cordery and he was fouled by the on rushing Nick Lacey in the Greens goal. Josh Morse gratefully accepted the penalty gift and beat Lacey to his left.

During the match, both sides created good chances but there was nothing in the match and neither side dominated. Kidlington winger Sol Jacobs-Bryan failed to score when clean through and midfielder Will Leach put the ball over the bar when well placed after an hour. After 76 minutes, Shrivenham’s Lewis Petrie slotted the ball past Lacey for a second. This was after a long ball upfield was misjudged in the air by Luke Spearman when he looked like he would head away from danger. The green machine then created another good chance when substitute Jack Gaul crossed after a mazy run and Hamad Al Dousari could not convert from close range at the back post.

This must be some sort of record for a Kidlington team, with thirteen of the fourteen players on show under 21 years of age, the majority being teenagers.

Team. Nick Lacey, Matt Didcock (Luke Spearman 47 mins), Josh Smith, Sam Elbro, Sam Jenkins, Callum Rice, Anton Mundy, Will Leach (Jack Gaul 67 mins), Ewan Jones, Josh Tooke, Sol Jacobs-Bryan (Hamad Al Dousari 75 minutes)

Next up for the young Greens team is Tytherington Rocks away this Saturday (3pm kick off)
