Match Preview | Kings Langley v Kidlington

Edward Carter17 Oct 2024 - 15:31

Kidlington are welcomed to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium as we take on Kings Langley in league action

After 8 challenging games, Kidlington face Matchday One opponents Kings Langley at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium. Kidlington have lacked form in all of the first 8 games with us only picking up a single point which came in a draw at Yarnton Road against Hertford Town. Craig McKay will be looking to change that as we try to bounce back from our 1-0 defeat to Kings Langley in August.

Since we last met Jordan Parkes’ side, Kings Langley have picked up 13 points in the 7 games they’ve played. Victories against Biggleswade FC, Northwood and North Leigh have positioned Kings Langley just outside the Play-offs. Declan Phillips, who scored Kings Langley’s only goal in August against The Greens, also opened the scoring against Biggleswade FC last Monday which saw Kings Langley take all three points.

The Opposition

Kings Langley are currently looking like they will top their 11th placed finish last year as they currently sit in 8th place. Jordan Parkes’ side have been fairly free-flowing with them scoring 12 goals in 7 matches, with 6 goals coming from fixtures against Biggleswade FC and Northwood.

Kings Langley have also recruited some new faces since we last met at Yarnton Road in August with Jake Anthony and Tami Ogunnowo both joining Hertfordshire outfit. Both players featured in King Langley’s Hertfordshire Senior Cup Round 1 tie, however, weren’t able to get on the scoresheet. Kings Langley had a 2-0 lead in the Senior Cup before Tring Athletic pegged them back and held them out until penalties. Fortunately for Kings, they progressed through 3-2 on penalties.

Now they’re full concentration is back on league action as they will look to continue their solid start. Four wins from the seven fixtures have them sat comfortable near the Play-offs with this fixture, against the third worst defensive record in the league, coming at a suitable time where Kings Langley can get momentum behind them with a clash against Flackwell Heath coming up.

Team News

Craig McKay will be looking at his players for a response as he will be in desperate need for three points. With positive additions already making an impact for McKay, he will be hoping his injury luck doesn’t effect the likes of Powfil Raposo and Latham Hawkins. After a massive positive with Dineen Hollifield-Meegan playing his first minutes of the season, Kidlington will be hoping they can bring the game to Kings Langley and get more points on the board.

Last Time We Met Kings Langley

In August, Kings Langley were victors as a goal from Declan Phillips was enough to take all three points back to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium.
