Kidlington pay for wastefulness but snatch a late point.

Kidlington pay for wastefulness but snatch a late point.

Charlie Bell16 Aug - 17:14

Kidlington FC 2-2 Hilltop FC

Many chances for Brad Chalmers side to win yet walk away with just a single point. Kyle Chester who set it up, calmly slotted from the penalty spot early on before conceding two. Kidlington’s relentless effort to push forward finally paid dividends in the latter stages as substitute Dani Lucas was sent in behind before curling a low effort into the back of the net.

Kidlington started the brighter of the two which came to prove for the home side, Kauan had a double effort saved before Kyle Chester tried the outrageous but his overhead kick bounced away. Soon the forward came again as Chester found himself tripped after a burst into the danger area and he made no mistake from the penalty spot, 1-0 after 15.

However ten minutes followed and Hilltop got the better of fullback Ned Nicolson-D’Abreu before taking a tumble and again the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Up rose Charlie Barnett and defied the odds to produce a magnificent stop and maintain Kidlington’s lead. Hilltop’s fortunes came to life just five from the break as eventually they found an equaliser through Mahdi following a mistake in the build up from Kidlington, 1-1.

It remained in the same fashion for the second half, in fact, Kidlington will be kicking themselves as they’ve only found the net once in the latter 45. Kauan had a chance skimming the bar before striking the post, Fraser Allen and Aydin Ulas were met with one-on-ones yet both struck straight at the keeper all inside the first 20 minutes… you just felt it was going to be one of those days.

Kidlington were soon furious as they found themselves a goal behind with 20 to go, a poor goal to concede from Kiddy’s perspective, after failing to clear their lines it was soon bundled in, the Greens had work to do as despite their dominance they were on the wrong end of the score, 1-2.

Eventually, hard work paid off for Kidlington but still deserved to walk away with something more. On comes Dani Lucas after 84 minutes and just seconds later, he’s found the ball in the back of the net after a composed, curved finish past the goalkeeper eventually gives Kidlington something from a match they deserved a lot more from.

A point on the board, another positive outing from Brad Chalmers side yet are still missing that cutting edge. It’s been bright displays from Kiddy, but not enough goal action. 2-2
