
Two sides still within reach of a spot in the playoffs faced off as Ashford Town came to Yarnton Road to take on Kidlington FC.
In the early parts of the game it was difficult for Kidlington to get going, with immense effort from the defense to keep early Ashford chances out.
Then the chances came for Kiddy, A powerful shot outside the area from Adam Smith was found just wide, as well as attempts from Samuel Olawale and Joey Aust who forced a save out of the keeper.
30 minutes into the game, a brilliant individual run from Olawale beating multiple defenders ended with a cross reaching Oluwapelumi Maxwell, who hit it sweetly on the volley finding the bottom corner. 1-0 Kidlington and a debut goal for Maxwell.
A brilliant end to the first half as Kidlington looked to continue their efforts into the second.
Only a few minutes in, Smith saw another chance from outside the area which again was just wide of the post.
Unfortunately, Kidlington’s clean sheet was no more as an outrageous strike from Ashford’s Oliver Mason found the back of the net. 1-1
However, Kiddy responded well with multiple chances right after, a great freekick from Michael Hopkins met Otis Castle who put it just past the post, as well as another shot from Smith forcing the keeper to parry it out, with the rebound just wide.
Another brilliant Kidlington cross reached Joey Aust who attempted a bicycle kick placed on target, however stopped by the keeper.
Kidlington saw out the game with some fantastic defensive blocks keeping the draw alive. Overall, multiple chances from Kiddy that another day could’ve easily given them the three points.
