Our visitors Coleshill, from North Warwikshire had a sticky start coming into this New Year. After beating Corby Town 2 - 1 they went on to record four successive losses, without being able to find the net for themselves. Ironically in their next match they thrashed Wantage Town 7 - 1 to reverse their fortunes, but since that Wantage result Coleshill haven't been registered another win, they've had three successive draws, the last of these 2 - 2 at North Leigh on Tuesday evening.
Earlier in the season we won 3 - 1 at Coleshill which was a great result for us as many teams find it hard going on their plastic pitch, but on the day The Greens put in a superb all-round performance which enabled us to take all 3 points. We are ourselves on a decent run with only one defeat in the last six outings which includes that excellent 3 - 0 win against AFC Dunstable last Saturday, a stunning Jacob Davidge brace and a bullet header from Stephen Robertson did the damage.
Manager Ben Sadler had this to say in the build up to Saturday's match ;-
"Last Saturday was a very pleasing performance, where the team out worked Dunstable limiting them to only half chances throughout. Davidge then scored a brilliant opening goal which gave us a lot of confidence and I think in the end the 3-0 result was a true reflection of the game. This Saturday we will be expecting another a tough game as Coleshill are no mugs and are currently three points above us in the table and unbeaten in four games. It should be a tight match as we have lost just one of our previous six games, that was at Yaxley on a waterlogged 3G surface in a match I felt should never have gone ahead!."
Saddler went on to report that with the exception of Tommy Castle, who is still hampered by his hamstring injury, he has everyone else fit and available. He also told me that one or two players will need to drop down and play for the Development team this weekend to get some football.
