On Saturday, Kidlington’s Development side moved into the final of the Oxfordshire Intermediate Cup, three first half goals were enough to see The Greens win 3 - 1 against Oxfordshire Senior League Division One leaders Chesterton.

In the 10th minute, teenager Piers Walton tapped home a cross from Callum Rice and the lead was doubled on 15th minute when again Rice assisted with a pinpoint corner, nodded home by center half Mark Burton. After this second goal Chesterton seemed to throw caution to the wind and in the 30th minute the dangerous Ricardo Benjamin crossed for Dan Green to tap home for 2 - 1. The 15 minutes leading to half time saw chances spurned at both ends until right on 45 minutes when Callum Rice made it a hatrick of assists. Yet another fantastic corner was powered home this time by the head of striker Jimmy Deabill.

The second half was not a great affair apart from a magical moment from stand in Goalkeeper Charlie Cassetari. In the 70th minute Cassetari dived full length to save a penalty from Ricardo Benjamin.

After this the game management from Kidlington was spot on. Kidlington now play in the final for the second year running having lost the final last year to Chinnor.

Date and venue for the final will be confirmed shortly and reported on this website.
