The club has today received the resignation of Head Coach, Craig McKay. Everyone at the club would like to thank Craig for his tireless work in his tenure, and wish him all the very best for the future. Also, gratitude to his family who have had to sacrifice time away from their Husband and Daddy In the work that Craig has done since rejoining the club in June 2024.
This is what Craig had to say:
"Following Saturday’s defeat away at Enfield, I have made the difficult decision to step down from my role as Head Coach of the club. Saturday was a real low point and with 11 games remaining, I believe the time is right for a new voice to lead the team forward.
"I take full responsibility for what has been a very disappointing season, and I sincerely apologise that I have been unable to turn our form around. My staff and I have worked tirelessly to secure more points, but ultimately, we have fallen short, and that responsibility rests with me. It has never been due to a lack of effort, dedication, or attention to detail - sometimes in football, it doesn’t work out.
"A huge thanks to all the staff - Ben, Brad, Ben, Tony, and Mark - an exceptionally talented group of blokes who have stood by me through everything. The committee has shown incredible patience and given me every opportunity to turn things around, for which I am truly grateful. In an era where managers are often sacked on a whim, their unwavering support has meant so much, and I am really gutted that I was unable to repay their faith. Baz - thank you, mate. Your constant support every single day has been invaluable.
"To the supporters - a heartfelt thank you. Despite not having much to cheer about this season, you have followed us through wind, rain, and cold, both home and away, singing your hearts out. The true meaning of supporters and a brilliant group of people. Thank you for your constant backing. You know who you are!
"To all players, past and present - your effort and commitment has never once been questioned. Thanks for your hard work and I’ll look forward to following your journeys from afar.
I wish the club all the very best for the future".
