Kidlington put in a valiant effort in this match against the champions elect, but in the end just came up short against a very good side.

On 23 minutes Ben Willoughby sustained a nasty ankle injury, Elliott Osborne-Ricketts comming on to replace him in the center of midfield.

The first real goal mouth action saw Kidlington's Darius Browne cross for Chris jordan. Jordan rose well in the box and angled his header down but visiting keeper Lewis Moat got down well to save it.

For the first 30 minutes or so you wouldn't have been able to guess at which end of the table these sides currently resided, however in the 34th minute a superbly worked move gave the visitors the lead.

A strong run down the left flank by Dion Sembie-Ferris allowed the winger to deliver a brilliant cross into the box, it was met by the in rushing Mark Jones and he headed powerfully home for 0-1.

0-1 was the score at half time but Kidlington were a long way from being out of the equation.

There was a good pace about the game at the start of the second half and to add to it on 55 minutes Kidlington Manager Julian McCamon brought on Callum Harvey to replace Chris Jordan.

On 59 minutes Harvey was within a whisker of restoring parity to the scoreline. Lewis Coyle threaded a pass forward and Harvey sprinted onto it and made for goal, as the striker neared goal he shot, only for the trailing leg of keeper Moat kept it out.

The game ebbed an flowed during this second period where chances were certainly at a premium.

The decisive blow was struck in the 81st minute when substitute Abduramane Sand-Sali seized on an opportunity from close range to net Peterborough's second goal.

That goal saw relief for the team and their traveling supporters and the visitors were basically home and dry.

There were no further real attempts on goal and Peterborough had got what they came for, the 3 points to finally wrap up the league championship. As for Kidlington, well they are quite likely to still need to accrue a couple more points to stave of the threat of relegation, which I'm sure they will go 'hell for leather' in their quest to achieve just that in their two remaining matches starting at Thame United this Easter Bank Holiday Monday.
